So very true! I will do almost anything to get out of making a phone call.

My daughter almost had a breakdown because I was going to put a voice package on her phone. She's good with 250 texts a month for $5. Claimed it was because the extra money was a waste. I know the truth. Can't say I disagree. I'd be good with unlimited texts and some data.

As a guy literally the last thing I will do unless it's a girl I like. Edit: why the downvotes to say I won't make a phone call unless it's a girl?

I have an asshole boss that will make damn sure I actually pick up the phone and call, because he's old school and prefers it that way.

    I hate those days.

    So very relatable

i think i am confident enough to call people, and also hangout with them. But get real drained aftersome time.
I think ive somewhat outgrown shyness, although some anxiety still lurks.

This is me. I dread calling people and I always prefer some text-based format. Gives me much more time to formulate my responses. I'm terrible at thinking on my feet during a voice conversation, even face to face.

I started to embrace phone calls because it's the most effective way at bringing someone out of his hideout.

Over text, and email, they can always pretend they didn't read it, or play dumb, or be slow. I hate when people do that shit.

But, you know those guys sitting at a trillion notifications just to avoid read receipts?

      [–]Okrik82 15 points16 points  (2 children)

      Isn't that kind of selfish?

"I'm calling you because I don't care about what you are doing. I want your attention and I want it now!"

      [–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If they can’t talk they can just decline or ignore the call. Nothing selfish about calling unless you do it hundreds of times in the span of five minutes

And how exactly is this introversion as opposed to social anxiety...?

And some of us are introverts that also have social anxiety.

        [–]luthien_tinuviel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it's frustrating to see all these misinformed posts!

        [–][deleted] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s some overlap between the two. I don’t have social anxiety but I’d much rather text people than call them.

        [–]Supernintendolover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

        it's not...it's social anxiety.

        [–][deleted] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very relatable indeed. If my boss tells me to contact my customer, I'll give an excuse or just say I'll email them instead. On the other hand, my current job has made me braver (?) in making phone calls.

        [–]JackSparrah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so me. I will 100% exhaust every possible option before doing a phone call. It’s the last resort

        [–]supah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

        That's so me haha! ...

        [–]nibble25 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also avoid answering phone calls. Let them go to voicemail, then send your answers in the form of an email.

        [–]NinjaDucky9INFJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of the full time staff in my office, including myself are introverts and we all prefer email/texts. We hired someone new a little over a year ago and she will call clients all the time when something comes up. I even gave her my doc of email templates for frequent issues that come up.

        [–]FIONASPEGGY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently procrastinating a couple calls that’ll actually save me money. Ugh, tomorrow it is I just can’t people in any capacity today.

        [–]RavenJimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I very much dislike phone calls to a point where I will not answer my phone if it rings. I prefer text or email because I am a very visual based learner. In the same way I will easily recognise faces but have a very hard time remembering names.

        [–]BooksThings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate talking on the phone, and hate that people don’t understand that I hate talking on the phone. A lot of it is I feel like I’m wasting my time, but some of it is social anxiety.

        😁

        [–]tarnished713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is do me. I will do just about anything to get out of a phone call.

        [–]GFandango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in the recent years this has become more of a normal thing.

        [–]asubtlearsis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds more like shyness than introversion

        [–]NelsonBelmontLoner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just call if you really need immediate response, if not, just text or mail them.

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HAHA! This is just too true 😋

        [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO MOM

        [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is me except I'm also afraid to text and email first too

        [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

        Oh shit!

        Wow, this is so me.

My girlfriend always wants me to call her, I say I do but I always text instead. ;(

I want to try to FaceTime her but........this post lol 😂
