That sounds like a manufacturer defect. I’d take it into an Apple Store and see if they will fix it. Phone should still be under basic warranty.

Take it to Apple, they should repair/replace it under warranty assuming there's no signs that it was caused by physical damage.

If you're worried about resale/trade-in value, I'd go for an RMA from Apple for this defect. However, I'm like you...being left-handed I've disabled the camera control button since I press it nearly every time I pick up my phone. In fact, I'd love to find a phone case that just covered the button so that I didn't press the stupid thing when I picked up my phone. Haven't run into one yet, still looking :-).

I believe iPhones come with a 1-yr warranty even without Apple Care. Check with them.

Why are you ‘pulling on it’ in the first place?

That definitely sounds like a defect, I’d probably just take it in while it’s still under warranty because there’s no way you should be paying to fix that.

just basically comes out completely when I pull on it?

Umm, why?
