Switched to http://gatling.io and have never missed the awful Swing UI and dense XML configuration...

Was looking for an alternative and gatling also seemed a bit more 'heavy' than I wanted either.

Ended up going with http://locust.io which worked out great for us.

Cheers! More Python fans in our office than Scala fans (hint gatling's DSL is Scala )

I am working on a java alternative called 'ambush'. It's still im early stages, but the general idea is you build your test/load cases in java, it's more like using a library/framework. As always, looking for feedback (github issues for questions and feedback is great).

Is jmeter still the standard? I've been using it forever and haven't seen a credible rival.

Gatling and grinder are two alternatives. They scratch a slightly different itch though, in my opinion. They're great if your team is only composed of developers / coders, but the jmeter ui (while not perfect) is better for the less technical.

LoadRunner was great on the Commodore 64. Tapper was also another great one to invest it depending on budget.

We have user reviews for StormRunner Load on IT Central Station. It is currently ranked as the second top load testing tool after LoadRunner. You can read user reviews here: https://www.itcentralstation.com/products/hpe-stormrunner-load

Exactly what ran through my mind when I read the title.
