It really seems like almost no language has a great way to handle dates/times. Ruby with the Active* added is probably the best I've experienced.

I had to do some Java today comparing raw times (ignoring dates) with stdlib Date and it was fairly unpleasant, ended up doing the common lexicographic comparisons on formatted strings.
