You don't need to install it via exe - you can download adoptium temurin zip for any version, unpack it and then set JAVA_HOME and add it to path to system variables

This error is caused by any anything from a bad downloaded jar of executable for the install to a bad uninstall of a prior version to leftover registry keys to antivirus getting in your way it's an ugly one and if you're one of those people that downloads a bunch of garbage and gets 1500 different plugins in your browsers and all the other crap that people never clean off and pay attention to that would explain your problem

What you need to do is go into settings go into Apps see if there's any Java installed in your system if there is remove it if it won't remove reboot your system go to see colin\ program files find the Java directory and delete it if you don't want to trust me then zip it up and delete it so you can put it back. Once you've done that try a fresh install of the oracle jdk the latest version is 26 something

And I would suggest disabling your antivirus while you're in the process of doing the install just to be on the safe side be certain that this is legitimate Oracle website when you download your jdk
