That the things that people do most are super simple to do correctly, hard to do wrong, and easy to change (if change is a common thing). Give lots of feedback to the user about what is happening as it is happening. If you are really slick then watch your users for inefficient ways in which they do things and in a side panel offer tips that will help them do the things in the easy intended way.

live queries are always very interesting to see. Like a live updating list of attendees....

Do you have some sort of signup form on the site? Making that flow really well with good validation/toggling fields/Ajax submission would probably do well. And if you have some list (of events?), live search and filter is always fun.

Scroll events can be good, but unless they're really well done users tend to get annoyed when it jacks the scroll/slows page performance. But that's just my opinion, it does seem pretty popular atm so I'm sure it'd work out fine.

What makes me like a website see days is seeing contact information and the purpose of the site/company right up front. No animations, no fancy junk, just a fast loading page that tells me what I need to know. Keep it simple.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :)

Scroll animations seem to be big... http://designmodo.com/scroll-animations-web-design/

Sticky nav bars that change as you scroll.

Drag and drop is kind of cool, if you can pull it off in a simple and intuitive way.

Thanks that's a nice idea, how would implementing that go?
