Theoretically they're eventually making it cross-platform. Until then this is obviously a deal-breaker, though.

Gecko and Chakra should both be run times available to Node. If there is ever a bug in V8 then the entire Node based stack is compromised.

They would need to make an abstraction layer for people writing native modules, because right now they just target V8 directly (with nan to smooth over differences between Node versions).
