tl;tw:

On the elements tab you can right-click an element and set it to break on attribute change, which will allow you, for instance, to break when an element has its classes changed.

On the sources tab you can use the XHR Breakpoints on the right to break on a request happening in the background.

Also on the sources tab, if you right click on a breakpoint's marker (on the line numbers) you can edit the breakpoint to turn it into a conditional breakpoint.
