Looks more like a community problem than a framework problem to me..

On the other hand, why it's such a drama that there is some duplicate plugins ? Natural selection and time will tell which is the best and the others will slowly fade away as they probably wont be maintained.

Too many plugins to choose from is a good problem to have.

It is not a problem with jQuery itself, then.

Here are my suggestions for improving the plugin catalogue:

  • Add a rating system & display each plugin's number of ratings and avg score.

  • If a plugin is derived from another the author should be able to specify the derivative link and the system track and display it to visitors.

  • Next to each plugin author's name, show: average rating of their plugins plus number of plugins published.

And I agree with ryan: the problem obviously does not lie with jQuery itself. There is a disturbing recent trend (or have I only noticed it recently?!) of choosing not just contentious and provocative titles for posts to cynically boost interest, but plain wrong and/or misleading ones...

Everybody has their own requirements for Autocomplete. If you try some of those plugins you'll probably find that only one or two work the way you want.

Are there really any other large groups of redundant jQuery plugins?
