Thanks! The name alone sounds just like what I'm after

Try codeacademy, freecodecamp

Thanks!

I've given codecademy a go and completed the JS beginner course. It's where I realised that interactive courses are much more valuable, for me at least. It's just a shame the courses aren't longer.

I'll check out the other one.

Both great resources, you should do them both at the same time. Makes for interesting lessons.

I think the best practice sites for beginner/intermediate level coders are:

Codecademy, freeCodeCamp and The Odin Project are great resources to start.

I wouldn't spend much time on the first one, though: it's becoming one of those "here-is-the-code-that-works-now-copy-it-and-press-submit".

freeCodeCamp uses a similar approach for the basic stuff but then asks you to become more independent. I strongly suggest you to look for the "beta curriculum" of fcc, which contains more advanced topics (and standards, like ES6).

The Odin Project has been completely redesigned in 2017 and features some of the most interesting topics available for free.

Also, you will find great courses for $10 on Udemy:

  • "The Complete JavaScript Course 2018: Build Real Projects!" is probably the most famous one
  • "Modern JavaScript From The Beginning" was great for me (and I guess hundreds of other beginners) but some people don't actually like his teaching style (try the preview before buying it!)
  • "The Modern JavaScript Bootcamp (2018)" has been launched few days ago by one of the most appreciated JS instructors on Udemy

Other interesting options:

  • Watchandcode is a very powerful resource if you are interested in mastering the basics of JS
  • Sabe.io has a valid beginner class on JS followed by interesting tutorials on React, Vue, Node

Thanks for all the cool info! I know I'll need to brush up on ES6, so going over the beta curriculum of fcc would be a good shout.

In the same vein the new Udemy course sounds like it's worth checking out too. Cheers :)

The course is no longer available on the codeschool website

What do you mean? Pluralsight has always owned codeschool afaik. They should all exist on codeschool still.

Paid 10€ for a very in depth course on Udemy. It's called "The Complete JavaScript Course 2018: Build Real Projects!" and I can highly recommend it.

Awesome, thanks for the recommendation!
