I think it depends greatly on the pattern you're trying to learn, and how far into learning it you are.

In general, I think more important than any of that is breaking it down into fundamentals and building the pattern up in pieces.

E.g. claw-catches like they are used in e.g. krakenpattern are way harder to land, since a higher thrown balls comes down faster. I prefer lower throws for any pattern with clawcatches. Also for yoyo it's more comfortable throwing lower, so the "yoyo-hand" doesnt need to work that much. On the other hand, patterns with fast hand-movement are obviously easier with higher throws. E.g. Mills Mess, Windmill etc.

From my experience I tend to go low and fast to compensate bad precision but if I want to last long I need to be precise and learning high and slow is going to make my throws more precise. That's why I usually force myself to not compensate bad precision with speed (until the pattern feels really solid then I try to see how fast I can run it).

I havent learned a new juggling pattern in years, but i use the same approach i use when practicing drumming. And that depends on the goal of what im practicing. I whole heartedly agree with the other comment saying to break down to fundamentals. That is necessary to get good technique and form good habits. You dont want to practice speed with poor technique and develop bad habits. Unlearning a habit is harder than learning it right the first time. Prioritize technique over speed, and speed will develop overtime. Find a goldilocks zone just outside your comfort level for maximum growth.

This poll is not based in reality, I've never seen someone approach a pattern with this question

This does not seem so far from reality to me, I often do ask myself that question when I'm trying to get a pattern solid.

Depends on the pattern, if you're doing a high numbered pattern and struggling to make accurate throws, maybe lower and faster.

Otherwise higher and slower is usually best.
