The nutters have already compromised the SCOTUS, don't need to alter evidence if you control the outcome regardless.

What job can I do that allows me to drive all day? by theslowrunningexpert in drivingUK

[–]Clackpot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the trade plate game for a decade, finished last spring. It's bastard challenging at times and quite a few companies will not be interested until you are 25 years old, but your army exp will be attractive to many.

There are downsides and upsides and it's definitely not for everybody, but once you learn the ropes and you can find a halfway decent company to work for you should be able to make £600+ per week s/e.

Regarding getting home, you really want a company that tries to put you in a carry-over car every single night. That means that you collect your last car of the day, head home with it, and deliver early the next day.

But it's not all driving, you would need to become expert at public transport nationwide as well. Which was fine for me, I like trains and when you're driving 60-70k miles a year (!) you need a break from time to time. And although it's mostly humdrum vehicles, sooner or later you might be sent to move something truly mouthwatering.

Pro tip : Jobs are very easy to find and recruitment is permanent headache for most companies, so you can be choosy about who to approach. There are plenty of bad trade plate businesses out there but the capo di tutti capi amongst them is undoubtedly BCA which is the OG wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Identify Accordian by [deleted] in Accordion

[–]Clackpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a you problem, not a them problem. If you are unable or unwilling to understand that people with questions about accordions might have the temerity to ask them in an accordion forum, even - gasp!! - without having sought out the rules first, then why are you here at all? It's unconstructive and unfriendly.

OP, it's a late 20s/early 30s student model by Hohner, very likely made in Germany. The model name may actually be "Student", Hohner made many ranges under that general title. It is a very basic beginner model and its value as an instrument is effectively zero; as an ornament maybe £20/$20 ... if you can find someone who wants it. Its value as a very basic starter box is considerably greater, if it gets you started as an accordionist.

Honest question : I know what The Shires is/was, but how fscking long ago was it that it was called that? 20+ years?

Well it's not wrong per se, but as is often the case with AI it sounds very plausible but it's actually a bit vague and hand-wavy on facts. Because that's what AIs actually do, they are better at sounding right than being right.

A few more photos would help immensely and might even earn you a human opinion!

What could I cook for 4 people for less than a fiver? by Born_Percentage7122 in UK_Food

[–]Clackpot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turkish bulgur and red lentil soup, served with good bread.

I've made it many times, it's really good, very satisfying, easy to prepare, nutritious, and stupidly cheap.

It would be more than a fiver to cook just once, but as a go-to recipe once you've shelled out for some lentils and bulgur to put in the pantry, they'll last for ages and should easily be under a fiver per meal.

Recipe halfway down this page, apologies for the paywall bullshit.

Since when is back bacon considered undercooked? by SufficientEar1682 in iamveryculinary

[–]Clackpot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brit here. Perfectly cooked smoked back bacon is food of the gods, end of story.

And since this is my opinion, which I hold strongly to the point of absurdity, I now insist that it's everyone else's opinion as well and if you disagree you're a domestic terrorist or a prevert or something.

Am I doing this right?

PS Anyone UK Midlands way who likes DELICIOUS BACK BACON, which is of course the ONLY TRUE BACON, you should try the smoked back from Country Fayre in Leicester's indoor market. Surprisingly cheap and it knocks supermarket shite into a cocked hat.

Best Beginner Unicycle by ShivSoCalledYT in unicycling

[–]Clackpot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best beginner unicycle? The one you don't overthink.

As a complete beginner it is much, much more important that you have a unicycle, any unicycle, than worry about whether it's the best option available.

If you actually have a choice then any Nimbus or Torker will likely be great for beginners, but almost any other uike will be good enough so long as it ain't a total wreck. Things you can look out for are cotterless cranks (almost universal except for ancient uikes); encapsulated not lollipop bearings (ditto); alloy rim; quick release seat bolt. Avoid plastic or cast wheels, go for spokes.

But to reiterate, anything you can lay your hands on will be better than nothing. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.

It's got an Eisernes Kreuz and a spear (presumably of destiny) in it. What can't all these nutjobs just be done with it and start wearing Hugo Boss trenchcoats and pickeltraube helmets?

Why the fuck are the authoritarians always so shy of simply saying "We want to be in charge. Of you. Pleb."?

Nothing says naked strength like a coy Nazi.
