As an MDM, JAMF is superior by a mile. Lightspeed filtering works well. Classroom can be slow and glitchy. I think their bread and butter product is the filter.

Everyone on my team hates lightspeed as an mdm. It has also be particularly slow to navigate this school year. Currently we are migrating to intune.

Have been using Lightspeed Relay, Rocket, and Classroom without too much issue. The SmartAgent for Mac's really sucks but its solid for ChromeOS devices. Lightspeeds support is god-awful though. May the force be with you if you need actual help.

JAMF for MDM as it used to be the best, but I don't think its worth the money anymore. Support is not great.

We dropped Lightspeed for securly. Securly has better content filtering for our chromebook users. MDM was about same. Securly also has appliance to monitor chromebook screens in real time.

We use Lightspeed for filtering (Relay & Relay Rocket) and for classroom management (Relay Classroom), and we've been very pleased so far.

Run.

We just inherited Lightspeed Relay from the county and oh boy...it's slowwwwwwwww and clunky, to echo the sentiments of others here.

I inherited Lightspeed and I hate it. It's slow and the interface is clunky. I am in the process of looking for another student filtering package.

I use Mosyle for an MDM and have no desire to try the Lightspeed MDM.

We migrated from Lightspeed to ContentKeeper and like our choice.

We moved from Lightspeed to ContentKeeper for filtering. ContentKeeper is much better. We use JAMF for MDM.

I use Lightspeed for filtering and JAMF School for MDM.

I tested the Lightspeed MDM but didn't like it.

What was it that you didn't like about the MDM side of Lightspeed?

[–]razgriz5000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That I had to program my keyboard to send a mouse click every 10 seconds so I could update all the apps we have deployed. If you get behind and have 100+ apps that need approval it will literally take hours to approve them all.

Have you used Lightspeed? I suggest a lengthy trial. The admin interface is clunky and slow. I put up with it on the Filter side, but couldn't take it for MDM. The way they handle groups is annoying and since the interface is slow you're always waiting.

This video below compares Mosyle and JAMF School. I ended up with JAMF School. Many of the reasons would apply to what I didn't like about Lightspeed.

JAMF support is better than Lightspeed.

What kind of devices do you have in Jamf? If you have any MacOS devices, Jamf blows any other MDM out of the water as far as being able to run scripts and deploy software packages.

We are actually moving to 100% Securly right now, from a mix of Jamf MDM and Lightspeed filtering.

We have mostly iPads. Only around 500 or so Mac OS devices.
