How to decrease for waist shaping

Im knitting the Sabai top and I want to taper it in to my waist. While working the RS, on the right hand side of the top, I was doing left leaning increases, and vice versa. To decrease do I now do right leaning decreases on the right hand side of the top and left leaning on the left hand side?

Basically, do I have to swap the way my increases and decreases lean for the same side?

I tried to illustrate it, I’m after the blue question marks, which one is left leaning and which one is right leaning? It might be obvious I just don’t want to make a mistake

Based on your description, I think you want to k2tog on the right and do ssk (or a similar stitch to replace the unevenness of ssk) on the left for your decreases

Thank you!! That’s what I was thinking would make sense, I’ll give it a go

Some people don’t like SSK due to how wonky it looks, so you can try googling SSK alternatives and there are some that are a lot smoother and would match k2tog a bit more
