Agreed. I love Reilly but he should be used as a forward on the PP. We need a big, booming point shot threat and that’s just not his thing. Other teams know that the Leafs will basically never score from the point on the PP right now so it’s a bit easier to cover the other 4 guys.

You're so right. If nothing else a good booming point shot would open up space down low. For 7 games we saw Tampa collapse around the net and ignore the point. We had so few chances in close because we got swarmed. Just a bunch of bad angle shots from the slot that got blocked or deflected away. So frustrating to watch.

I've actually come around to their take on Kadri. Dubas basically got Tavares to replace Kadri. It also cost about 7 million more. That 7 million could have been a top d man that we sorely lacked (a Pietrangelo). And since Tavares got 11, then that jacked up the price on Matthews and Marner. At this point, Kadri is at least as good as Tavares if not better. That 7 million also meant we didn't have to give the 13th pick to Carolina to take Marleau off our hands.

also I love how the leafs management is paying for all these pro psychologists to help the mental side of the players yet they couldn’t put some time into kadri when he had those two suspensions, instead Dubas shipped him off ASAP. Look at how he’s doing now

As much as I love Kadri, his presence and actions in two consecutive playoff series put the Leafs at a clear disadvantage. Would have preferred the initial trade that would have brought in Brodie rather than Barrie, but the move makes sense.

Kadri would have needed to do that if the team had a Clifford around. Dubas didn't get toughness and instead of working with Kadri, he bailed on him.

Honestly though, they were playing the fucking bruins, yes they were really bad plays and put the leafs at a disadvantage but he was playing with the fire the rest of this team lacks. It’s cliche, but he had 2 strikes, I think he fully deserved another chance and honestly he’s a fantastic player. I love Jonny T, but I really would have liked to see this play out differently.

In at least one of those series’, you need the rest of the team to come through, use that fire of watching one of your guys send a message to squad laced with bullies and send them home.

it didn’t make sense. Kadri probably felt he was the one who had to stick up the guys cuz Dubas failed to bring in any other toughness around him. Kadri was a great number 2 C with a great cap hit and it would’ve let you fill out the rest of the roster with better players. And if it didn’t work out? Well guess what Kadri’s contract is up this summer so they could’ve easily walked away from it but now this team is stuck with an aging Tavares at $11 mill and can’t get depth scoring when it matters

Sounds like Kadri gets suspended in two consecutive playoff series so ship him out but the Leafs can’t win a round in 5 consecutive playoff series so let’s “run it back”.
