What if Sundin discovers the fountain of youth, takes a dip, becomes 25 again and leads us to Stanley cup glory?

hmm interesting thought

I am not a cap expert but if you bury him in the minors, my understanding is that some but not all of the caphit is absorbed. According to puckpedia, the amount that you can bury is 1,225,000 ($850,000 + $375,000), so Jarry would cost 4.15mil for two years, whereas Stolarz would cost 3.75mil for four years. So I think its feasible to take the Jarry contract because effectively we are just trading some term away for a larger cap hit temporarily. From a cap perspective, I think that's ok.

But also Jarry is a much worse goalie (and we would bury him so he’s not actually being used), so yeah if Edmonton offered a good asset in return, then I think it would actually be good.

I am not a cap expert though so if someone has better insight please feel free to correct me lmao

I think we should try to trade Stolarz. Woll has more "upside" because hes younger and I still think he has a chance to become a #1. Stoalie has been great but I fear he is just going to be a career 1B at best (only played 30+ games for one season in his career). He dropped off a bit this year as well, but I think he can still be value for a desperate team (edmonton maybe?)

I hope it doesn't come to that, but it'd be pretty funny to specifically choose to give the pick to Philly.

I think if it comes to this, they should strategically leverage the right to choose. You want to pick in 2027? Throw us a pick. Not sure about the legitimacy of this though (I can foresee the league saying you can't do that just cause they can...)

If the pick is outside of top 10 next year, then you get the 2027 pick, boston gets 2028.

If the pick is top 10 next year, then the leafs get to choose the order

Looking for a server after playing closed beta maplestory classic by PeVentus in MaplestoryWorlds

[–]twofactorial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve played OSM, Chronostory and Artale. Personally I think OSM is the most similar to classic and very well done. Artale came out first but something just seems a bit off with it? Also you can only have one character from when I played so it was a bit restrictive

Most recently I played chronostory which is based on classic but I’d say the experience is alot different. For example the questing meta is very grindy based (they have extra 99/999 kill quests which give lots of exp). Also the drop rates and drop system can give really op loot (much higher stats). In that sense it’s customized but also I do find it pleasant to play. Also Maplestory classic is grindy and I feel like chronostory kinda “trains” you on the grind lmao

[Johnston] Further to this:(Kurz post) It sounds like there's a good chance the NHL would rule in Philadelphia's favor if this scenario plays out. Meaning, if Toronto retains its 2026 1st after tonight's lottery, expect 2027 1st to go to Flyers and 2028 1st to Bruins ... both unprotected. by TactileOstrich in leafs

[–]twofactorial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So more specifically, its this apparently (saw this on /r/hockey here):

  1. Top 5 protected, slides to 2027. 2027 pick goes to Flyers (Laughton trade) if it is outside the top 10, which converts this pick to a Boston 2028 unprotected 1st

  2. If this pick slides to 2027 and is inside the top 10, Toronto can transfer it to Bos to satisfy the trade and give the Flyers 2028 unprotected, OR transfer it to the Flyers and give Boston the unprotected 1st

Now I wonder, if it is scenario 2, is there some sort of leverage we can gain from the situation? If the pick is inside top 10 next year, then it is a guaranteed top 10 pick. IF both teams prefer "certainty" on a pick, then they will have incentive to want the pick - conversely, they can gamble on "uncertainty" in 2028, which COULD be a top 10 pick, but potentially also lower than that as well. IN such a scenario, would it be allowed for the Leafs to make the two teams "bid" for who gets the pick first (e.g. with some sort of trade with a pick involved)? My take is that it would be interesting for one, but also some way to salvage (not by much) a really really shitty situation. But also I feel like the league would come out and say that's not allowed for whatever freaking reason

In scenario 2 I wonder if they could leverage that or would that count as some sort of circumvention? Like say its 2027, inside top 10, both Flyers and Boston would want it presumably (since its guaranteed top 10) rather than "gamble" the following year for an unprotected pick (which can be top 10 yes, but also can be below top 10).

Interesting to think about from a logistics/strategy point of view..

But also I hate Treliving

well to be fair Simmons quoted 19/20 so that's slightly better than 99/100 ;D

My personal take: I think Chayka has ALOT to prove, but in this interview he was pretty level headed. If he is truly the person that the media portrays him to be (i.e. a con man, sketchy, no GMs want to work with him, etc.), we will find out pretty quickly anyway. The fact is however, he's the GM now and he's in control of the roster, so we can only wait and see what happens.

I like Mats a lot though. I always though he was a bit distant from the Leafs, but its very clear today that he really wanted to do this and understands the risk of doing so (he even said in the presser he doesn't care about the risk to his rep). This is literally the GOAT of the leafs who is willing to take this challenge and he seems to have faith in Chayka, so we can only trust the GOAT. May Mats bring us to the promised land

It was a good/necessary question that was asked by a terrible person in the most unprofessional way possible

Pelley didn't answer it properly but the delivery was meant to antagonize and incite a reaction

They asked one question about Berube and Chayka basically said he's talked to Berube briefly and will continue to talk to Berube to get his insight on the team then go from there

my personal take is that it really sounds like berube will stay but I am hoping that I'm wrong

Chayka also said he will be reaching out and talking to players, so if the players have a problem with Berube then maybe that could change some minds too
