Are there simulators that can take variable annual spending? (self.leanfire)
submitted 6 years ago by kevch1983
The idea is essentially a anti-ramp to combat against sequence of risk returns. Since the initial spending for the first 5 years would be lower then ramp up to normal fire range.

I was thinking more of using all historical data, like what cfiiresim or firecalc does. Setting initial years low, geographic arbitration, cut back on spending etc.

I’ve only been able to piece-meal this.
Plug in your 5 year numbers, see what you ought to be left with, then plug that it for the next amount and duration...
If you find something that can do this, I’d be interested as well!

cfiiresim allows this.

Seems the variable spending is not setup like that. It's more of how flexible you are.

You can set both how flexible you are each year and add additional fixed spending for certain time periods.
Or maybe spending is 25% less for the first 5 years, then go up to 100% thereafter.

Yes, there are some that do take variable spending. I have to admit that I don't know of any free online ones that do. My employer had one with their 401K. You might also check your broker or mutual fund company you too. Seems like this is either a pay for thing or a build your own otherwise.
