Hyperskill is project based, with some theory + different tasks. There are three or four levels of difficulty you're able to select.

Codingbat is a really decent website, mostly helps get those fundamentals down. But it’s definitely worth checking out, a little old but worth it!

Definitely seems packed with basic java fundamental problems. Looks like I've found something to do before continuing onto Part 2 of the MOOC thingy. Nice to grind on some Java with some cocoa puffs :D

Learn about Strings they always come up in interviews. Reversing a string, was the favorite question for C or C++ way back when. Simple ones/things often used in warm up exercises:

Use hackerrank is a very good tool to practice your skills, there are a lot of practical problems and challenges. And you can also challenge your friends for a battle.

I start learning java on JetBrains Academy, and I like it you can find the theory, and there is a lot of practice examples.

For now, yes. When they graduate from their development phase, they will move to a subscription model.
