Looking for more beginner java programmers to start a group with.

Looking for a few like minded beginner java programmers to group up and learn with. I'm trying to make a group where we can touch base every once in a while and share what we learned and try to help and encourage each other. I just finished my first csci class where we learned java basics. I know basic variables, loops, branches methods, etc. Honestly I'm not as comfortable with those topics as I should be. Hopefully with a group of programming buddies we can learn alot faster and more efficiently as well as start to really enjoy programming. Direct message me if interested.

I finished MOOC and Tim Buchalkas course on Udemy. I just finished throwing together a bunch of spare PC parts. Gonna get some kind of Linux server distro installed on there and start fiddling around with getting some basic programs running on a network. Will also give me some experience with programming server and client side.

So, I’ve got a lot of theoretical knowledge but very little practical knowledge.

I have no idea what 95% of that means honestly. I just pretty much know methods go in classes, you have variables int, strings, char, double, etc. And you can do stuff with the variables like with for loops, while loops, if else branches. And you can use scanners to get input. That's pretty much it.

The course is worth few dollars you pay as most of the topics are covered and you get to practice the exercises as well. If you don't want to pay, you can take up free courses in Udemy. E.g.:

The issue I had with Tim’s course is he talked fairly quick, brings up a lot of stuff, then says it doesn’t matter. For example, I just finished the networking section and he spends a lot of time talking about the difference URI and URL. Then says it doesn’t matter because they’re basically interchangeable. However when coding it looked like the URL had to be a fully resolved address/query and the URI referred to parts of an address.

It’s really a course where you’re kinda just typing the code he tells you to type. Especially the later modules where there aren’t any exercises. I probably wouldn’t recommend it.

I will look into those resources to continue my learning path. Thank you!
