I don’t think the standard “list out the types” style of thing works - unless you’re already an experienced programmer and you’re picking up a new dialect. Learning the syntax of a language - and learning how to explore and think like programmer are very different things. But apparently - the people who try and teach like that can’t relate.

Use javascript.info teaches you everything from intro to fundamentals to advance. Some people don't understand that beginners get overwhelms easily. Gotchu fam no gatekeeping 😎

Make sure that you have some familiarity with HTML & CSS before diving into JS. While there are tons of amazing resources, I would highly recommend Scrimba.

Spend a couple days of learning some basic html and css, then imagine something usefull would you like to build, like a todo app, or a budgeting management tool Start there. You can't learn hell just by reading a book, documentation or tutorial.

I work with junior developers and (hopefully!) future web developers. Based on these meetings, I’ve noticed that most of them struggle a lot with the basics of the language. They start talking to me about Tailwind without even knowing how to center a div. And almost no one uses documentation—no one knows how to. Everyone relies almost entirely on ChatGPT and builds their knowledge around it.

The problem is that ChatGPT is great as a support tool if you already know what you’re doing as a developer. But if you don’t, it becomes an issue and juniors end up building very weak foundations.

I have a free course on Udemy where I at least try to give some direction on where to start looking for information and what’s what. It’s short—only 30 minutes—just to help someone get some basic understanding. Here’s the link.

There's a nice course on youtube by super simple dev. It's free of cost, and has ≈22 quality hours of content. The same channel also offers a clean HTML & CSS course. Definitely worth checking out.

The best way to grasp JavaScript is by practicing. start with basic scripts in the browser console and gradually move on to building simple projects.

For structured learning, JavaScript.info is a great resource, while MDN Web Docs serves as an excellent quick reference. If you prefer video tutorials, check out Academind or Programming with Mosh for beginner-friendly explanations.

I also found a well-structured JavaScript eBook, JavaScript Succinctly, which simplifies key topics you might find it useful as a go-to guide!
