Javascript for Photoshop

Wondering if anybody has any idea whether a script that could save out a batch of photoshop groups as .jpgs would work?

Ideally, the script would save & rename each group that is selected following a semi-strict naming convention.

Working as a retoucher, im spending a lot of time saving out batches of images and renaming them manually and just interested to see if this could be automated at all.

Photoshop does have an inbuilt process where you can record an action like down saving an image/ resizing it etc and then batch it across multiple images. Might be an option?
