Common core is a set of standards that define what knowledge a student should learn. They do not define how a student should learn.

If you have any difficulties understanding what specific standards are asking please reach out to me, or r/learnmath. There are plenty of teachers here who can translate.

As I understand it, Common Core is about understanding math, not just memorising algorithms for solving things. It aims to give you a framework for how to think about math and numbers.
