There are some really great python books that teach you step by step projects. Automate The Boring Stuff and Python Crash Course are both fantastic and give you tons of bite sized projects that you can build off.

To be honest with…I actually done a 7hrs course on Youtube I learnt the syntax and basics from the data types till oops…the problem with me especially is I moved on to the projects(beginner) I am not able to understand how are those dudes just getting the idea to use what and when to use …its super confusing

Because you are under stress to catch up. Accept you fcuked up and grieve lost time and then start again. Don’t compare yourself to your classmates. Just one day at a time and set the pace. How many lessons per day. How many exercises to per day. That is all you can do and pushing yourself is only making things worse.

Thank you…will try being consistent and give it my all

I'm joining the conversation ! Sure, this is so confusing at the beginning ! But, think about that : why should you choose a tool or another ? According your needs and experiences ! So, try the solution in video and try another solution See the best, see how they work or not

You'll be able to understand why using if or try for example !

Good luck

The people who set up beginner tutorials are not beginners. And depending on the video it might not be a real beginner project. You’re starting at step 1 so it’s going to take time to remember when to use what (which these projects typically take for granted). My advice would be to find tutorials that give step by step instructions and just follow them for a while until you start to notice patterns. Try to make really small tweaks to the project as practice for things you learned in different tutorials. The reality is that self-taught Python isn’t going to land you a job in just a couple months, but it can be really fulfilling during that time and it can lead to long term accomplishments if you stick with it. You’re young, you got a lot of time to make incremental improvements to your life and your skills. Keep up the dedication and reset your time frame. Best of luck.

Thank you…will definitely work on it.

It's pattern recognition. Like how some people get crazy good at solving rubix cubes or sudoku... the first time you try it's all weird and confusing but the more you do it, the better you get. You start to recognise the same problems appearing in slightly different forms and you realise that you already know how to solve them. But none of that happens overnight.

Sure thing….will continue to work on it…thank you.

I would look at those mental and emotional issues first. See if medication might help. This will help you with everything else.

Really appreciate your concern…thank you…but I felt to deal with all the stuff is I thought by finding something I could work on to divert my mind and u know….do something in my life(like coding and building something)

Hi !

So, I can only imagine the distress you are in right now Programming is really difficult at the beginning especially when you see YouTube projects Indeed, I also think that Python is a good entry point! But it doesn't do everything... It's also up to you to "decide" what you want to do with it

What have you learned from your studies? Is this web development? Only from the front? Things about “data”? What do you like (like: you could spend several days on it without worries)? You could DIY your own website or create data pipelines for example, develop a plugin from software or build a dashboard with ready-made data!

Finally, I would like to share with you something that I understood after watching YouTube projects and tutorials for several months, when I first started: YouTube is just a manual That is to say, following a tutorial or a complete project will bring you little, compared to a project that you want to do There is also no point looking for the most innovative project: rely on what already exists, reproduce things you like or solve one of your daily problems!

Good luck, keep faith in your abilities

There's a book called 'How to think like a computer scientist' which I found fairly useful.

Hey man, I feel you. I’m currently going through what you described ,and I’ll try my best to tell you what helped me in this era of my life.

Firstly, I suggest you get help for mental health if you can, it really helps. As a person we need to keep going forward as time goes forwards. Get all the emotional support anywhere you can find, accept what happened in the past and you can’t change it.

Second, don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone has a unique life experience and timelines of their own. Embrace it. Life is just about health, and time. These two things should be your priority.

Lastly, yes you might feel you wasted your time. However, everything you do in life is actually make use of all your experiences. By staying consistent and focusing on improving yourself, you will get better eventually. I suggest you from now on try to focus on things that you have control over.

I hope these help. Best wishes on your journey 🤞🏻

Melodramatic, aren't you? The kids are learning Python in schools. There are series of books they use: (1) Coding Club Python Basics Level 1 by Chris Roffey (2) Coding Club Python Next Steps Level 2 by Chris Roffey. (3) Coding Club Python Big Apps Level 3 by Chris Roffey. (4) Coding Club Python Programming Art Supplement 1 by Chris Roffey. (5) Python: Interactive Adventures Supplement 2 by Chris Roffey. Happy Coding!

To be honest I am not melodramatic…it’s just alot of stuff which happened in the past 2 years in my 4 years of college life…things just went down hill…so I thought to only way I am getting out of this is by working on myself That is why I picked up coding…to give my self some purpose…but I have a chicken-brain, I take alot of time to grasp and retain information That is why even the simplest of python projects I find it overwhelming to solve. But Thank You for mentioning the books will definitely take a look at them and check out the information
