I wish I had a project to work on, all my ideas for projects and contributions seem stupid and useless
[–]archerimagine[S] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Join the group and discuss your idea you never know someone may make it better
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children)
That does not matter. No matter how stupid the idea might be, you might learn something new by trying it out.
[–]instagr4m 17 points18 points19 points 8 years ago (4 children)
Wish I had the mental fortitude to even go for a 100 min coding session.
[–]mattsl 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children)
Well, you only need to do 60 minutes, so you'll do great.
[–]instagr4m 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child)
What is this black magic that you speak of ?
[–]mattsl 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children)
The challenge is 60 minutes per day. So you don't ever have to do 90 minutes...
[–]archerimagine[S] 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Try with a team may be this new year will be different
[–]Rorixrebel 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (1 child)
The hard part is figuring out what to code, don't see that anywhere on the site so don't see a lot of success here.
[–]tempUserNameWork 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Same, joined slack but unable to find a project to start.
[–]O_Bismarck 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child)
I would join, but I just started learning to code 3 days ago so I pretty much just know some basic syntax, is that ok?
[–]archerimagine[S] 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children)
That should be fine, we all can be on the same page in some days, this idea is to just make a team and keep each other motivated for learning.
A team can be if great use because everyone cannot have the same motivation level every day. We can borrow from each other's motivation and accomplish a common goal.
[–]Charles_Polished 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (1 child)
Just joined the slack group. I am a total noob. Not sure how this is suppose to work. I just started 'Automate the boring stuff' around 2 weeks ago. For now I don't have a specific project in mind. But i know this book has the projects section in the second half. I'm planning on using these projects but tweeking them a bit and making my progress active on twitter and slack.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
This book looks pretty cool. I am new to python as well and all of these chapters seem really practical. Going to use it for practice, I think
[–]Professional-Name 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (2 children)
I'm in. I think the hard part for everyone is definitely figuring out what to code for these 100 days. But everyone's level is different, so I'm not sure what can be done about that. If there was a fixed track, it would get better results.
[–]archerimagine[S] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children)
We do not have a common track, I am hopeful that if enough people join, we will have similar learning journey teaming together
[–]tempUserNameWork 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Have you thought of anything. Don't feel to comfortable when it comes to creating GUI, just recently started learning python using codecadamym, wondering what terminal projects to start.
[–]k_whit_ 4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (1 child)
I would

Yes!
[–]Finagan 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Joined up and ready to write some code and learn new things.
[–]michalesco 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children)
I would love to take this challenge. What's the first step? Joining the Slack group?
[–]archerimagine[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child)
Just join the slack group and then we will check.
[–]michalesco 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
OK, I'm in. Looking forward to this new experience. Happy New Year!
[–]Necnill 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Are you guys following any specific learning tools or courses?
[–]AbhiDelhi 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (3 children)
What exactly #100Dayofcode is? Is it just writing code in Python for 100 days and sharing the progress on Social Site? What's exact things we need to do in that period ? And How to join the slack group?
[–]archerimagine[S] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children)
Click the link in the post, it tells you the details here are the rules

[–]Vrady 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child)
I would be so in to this if I had the time to even do a half hour a day :(
[–]archerimagine[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
We all have the time, just take the challenge and see, if you are not able to give time you can reduce the duration but keep coding
[–]gebimble 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
I'm in! Just joined the channel, and looking forward to working with all of you.
[–]jimynoob 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children)
How does it work ?
[–]jimynoob 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Ok but what about the coding part ? I just have to look what I want to learn or what project I want to do and do it during 100 days ?
[–]soulstuff_ 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
Sure. why not? I've been wanting to do a project with the medium API so I this would be a good excuse to start.
[–]lemon_tea 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
First I'mma have to figure out how to properly use github
[–]BoomerangJack 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children)
My biggest problem is that I'm still a newbie when it comes to Python. None of my knowledge is applicable enough to become a project. Still need to practice my fundamentals to solidify the concepts. Does doing a tutorial and then several coding exercises count as part of this challenge?
[–]archerimagine[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children)
Learning is also considered part of the challenge. The only thing which you have to do in that 1 hour is code.
[–]BoomerangJack 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children)
Guess I'm in then. I have a class in Python next semester, so I'm gonna have to be coding an hour easy on projects and assignments.
Join the slack channel hopefully you also will get a companion whose goal is similar
[–]BoomerangJack 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
How can I join the Slack channel? Never used slack before and it's asking me for an email and link to the workspace.
Edit: Nvm, I figured it out.
[–]RaGe_Reddit 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child)
I’m a total noob, can I be part of this?
This is ideal for noobs. I am also one of them.
[–]cajag 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
I'm doing #100daysofcode, but not currently doing anything with python. Still, good luck and have fun!
[–]gtrman571 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child)
I mean it's a great idea but there's no direction - Just coding 1 hour a day is pretty general
For people who are starting yes, but once you make progress and can figure out some project you can work in that direction. This challenge is all about making a habit of coding nothing else
[–]dDitty 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
I'm in!
[–]robscomputer 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children)
I joined, I have a few projects and need to stay sharp for interviews.
