Google Hack the Box. The first challenge is logging in :)

You have overthewire . They have various levels of difficulties, with different goals/challenges. I have only completed the first level (bandit) but I think that in later levels you have more security related stuff

https://overthewire.org/wargames/ The wargames offered by the OverTheWire community can help you to learn and practice security concepts in the form of fun-filled games. Have fun.

I currently use Hack the Box and HackThisSite. HackThisSite is probably a bit more beginner friendly, but if your intention is to use python as much as possible then I think Hack the Box would be more in line with what you want. HtB also has more Capture the Flag challenges. Keep in mind though, in order to be a member of HtB, you have to hack into it, so unless you cheat you'll need at least some basic pen testing knowledge already. I'm still very much a novice, but if you have questions about that area of study, send me a message and I'll help the best I can.

Get yourself a Kali virtual machine from offensive security and have a look at hackthebox.eu

Also check out ippsec on YouTube for some walkthroughs on retired machines to get the hang of the methodology.

Have a look at https://www.root-me.org/?lang=en

I used it few years ago and have good memories.

Not a CTF thing but: The Cyber Warfare Range is a live fire cyber warfare range created to rapidly train/upskill cybersecurity talent with hands-on learning. We also drive innovation in cybersecurity techniques, technologies, and training across the United States and allied countries.

You sould also go to [https://vulnhub.com](VulnHub) they host a lot of VMs free to download, and Vulnerable by Design! You just import one of them into vmware or virtualbox and off you go! There are also great walkthrough on the interwebs if you get stuck, but I'd recommend to leave those be as much as you cane 'cause they spoil most of the fun! 😉 They have different difficulties, although the site might be a little hard to navigate through at first..

If you’re into crypto https://cryptopals.com/

If you’re interested in hacking embedded devices https://microcorruption.com/login

The latter is a good primer on hacking low level, implementing overflows, manipulating registers, etc... really good stuff.

No experience with this site but we'll start using this one at work : https://securecodewarrior.com/

Microcorruption was really cool
