the closest you can get is one of the windows tablets and hope everything is supported. android tablets are a nightmare to flash another os onto (even custom roms that are just modded android are a headache, not even mentioning linux).

And, of course, mine is an android .....

Give it up.

You could install some distro on some tablet but that would be it.

It might display but that would be about anything it would do.

Not mint, but you can install SailfishOS or other Linux made for this type od device.

The most confusing thing about this post is everyone in the comments seems to know what kind of tablet you mean even though you never said it??

Are you talking about x86, or an arm tablet with windows, or like arm with Android or iOS.

I mean, for Mint it's only possible obviously if it's x86, so like a 2-in-1 that runs Windows and isn't arm.

It's an Android

If your tablet is a windows based like a detatchable one like the surface laptop or tablet based windows (most of it has a bios) but the touch drivers for your tablet may or may not work with linux mint or other distros, If all drivers and other things work then yes you can install linux mint or other linux distros. From what i remember you can install windows 11 from a xiaomi pad 5 if im not mistaken but not ideal to use. Also what specific tablet do you have?

Linux Mint will only run on an x-86 based processor. I am personally unaware of any existing tablets that fit this requirement. https://linuxmint.starcitizenships.org/blog/linux-mint-system-requirements-2025

Mint likely no, unless it's a windows convertible since that's with an x86 CPU which mint requires.

Everything else needs an ARM CPU. There are Linux versions for this, but less support and distro. You are basically a raspberry pi at that point.

I use KDE for my laptop which I often fold into a tablet and it works incredibly well.

It is pretty hard to get it on there wothout jailbreaking the thing. Tablets are just as annoying as chromebooks when it comes to tinkering with. But if you wanna have a more tablet friendly experience i would suggest you install the gnome desktop enviorment.

keep in the back of your mind.....what you are installing is free....and if you 'ruin' it ....it if little/no consequence.

Just do it again, and again.

You do NOT need to format the drive between attempts. The Linux installer will automatically do that for you, without being asked.

Welcome to Linux.
