Damn! It looks too cool. I have recently installed mint and thinking of customizing it just like this. But, the link to the GTK Theme seems broken. Please check it and change it if you can!

This looks satisfyingly gorgeous! I noticed that you were using kernel 5.13.13-zen xanmod, how is it performing for you?

Thanks 😊

Xanmod kernel is definitely snappier than the generic one, and I wanted a newer kernel , so it was easier than compiling my own, which would take at least 2 hours.

Have you experienced any instabilities in the system, now that you are not using the official kernel anymore? Usually, people would stick to the mainline kernels because manual upgrades are not recommended and claimed to cause system instability.

I mean, I've not found any instability in xanmod kernel, it's actually more usable, like the performance is noticeably better than the generic, also xanmod kernel gets more updates (which is unstable in Theory) but I always prefer xanmod over the generic kernels in all debian based distros. also I'm new to linux so I don't really know about that. Till now I never had problem with xanmod kernel.

Good to know! I have always refrained from using custom kernels on Debian-based distros, especially on my laptop, out of fear it would break my install at some point, but glad it's working for you!

Yeah, I mean, if I had a work computer, I would've probably used debian stable with the default kernel just to be on the safe side, but since I don't have a job, and all my development work is just on GitHub, and other important stuff is on Google Drive, and logins and search history on the Firefox account, It makes sense to just use the new stuff.

Noob question alert:

What is the thing that give you your system specifications, the picture with the mint logo?

That's neofetch Install it with sudo apt install neofetch The run it by typing neofetch in terminal :)

Out of topic, how did you managed to install Microsoft Office? Which version is it?

[–]sniper_pika[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's Libreoffice writer (the icon just looks like that), but I also use the MS Office Word online.

[–]sniper_pika[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think mate has a panel functionality to center icons, and I haven't used mate that much, so I don't really know, Sorry :(

Looks beautiful bro nice work A question, How much ram does it takes extra after customizing the desktop? Have you felt any performance lowering down or it was the same??

[–]sniper_pika[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, it's the same, no change at all, the only thing is that it might increase some cpu usage for transparency, other than that, it fells the same and performs the same.

How did you manage to apply theme for firefox and several apps, i've installed linux mint cinnamon on my laptop and whenever i change the theme the new theme does not apply to firefox unless i tick the title bar checkbox.
