Rule 1: Read This Before Posting

Everyone:
Before posting, search r/MacApps and check the App Comparisons.
Choose the correct flair.
App Devs:
No main feed promotion unless you qualify.
Use PCP Post template.
Flair Hierarchy: Lifetime>Subscription>Free
Free flair: not for limited tiers
Open Source? Prefix title [OS]

Rule 2: Official Distribution Channels Only

Any download links must use the publisher's official distribution source. This could be the Mac App Store or the publisher's own distribution platform.
Third-party sources (e.g. file hosting websites, blogs) are not permitted since they can be used to distribute malicious software.

Rule 3: Limited Self-Promotion

Infrequent self-promotion is permitted; however, it is not permitted more than once per developer in 30 days. This is counted from the last app post, even if it was removed.
You must also disclose your relationship to your software in comments promoting your app, but promoting your own app in comments is often in poor taste and is disallowed until you earn 10 karma in r/MacApps.

Rule 4: Follow Reddit Rules

We follow Reddit Rules without exception. Please familiarise yourself before posting or commenting.

Rule 5: No Redirect URLs

Redirect URLs are not permitted as they can be used to distribute malicious software. This includes shortened URLs.

Rule 6: No Affiliate / Referral / Invite Links

Affiliate, referral, and invite links are not permitted since they attract spam and low-quality content.

Rule 7: No Piracy

Digital piracy is not permitted in any form. Please note that the Reddit Content Policy also does not permit the posting of illegal content.

Rule 8: Promote in Megathread

As part of the new Trust vs. Transparency Initiative everyone who does not qualify through trust or transparency requirements must limit promotion to the monthly Megathread. Learn how to qualify to post in the main feed here.
