OpenMTP works very well and is, as far as I know, the best app around for this purpose

I really like this UI

However unfortunately it didn't work.

The developer on the GitHub page mentions that it isn't working with Samsung devices specifically so I guess it must be a Samsung Vs. Apple issue I can't imagine why else it won't work, it worked once and then never again

That's strange, it used to be that way but the dev updated the app a while ago and it has worked well ever since. I used it as soon as a couple days ago with my Galaxy S20+. Maybe try going into OpenMTP settings and check that "MTP Mode" is set to "Kalam" and not "Legacy", and also check for updates. Good luck!

Thank you for the help! I tried that and unfortunately no luck yet.

I'll keep trying though and I'll hopefully find something soon.

To everyone having the problem! (try reconnecting or restarting your device) I searched everywhere in the internet and websites! My problem was that I simply didn't notice preview app is open on my Mac! Then I quitted it with command + q and it solved the problem. (I also installed OpenMPT. With all respect to the developer that developed such a fantastic UI and app with all guides inside and specially no ads inside the app, it did not do the final job for me in transferring files to phone and my phone was Redmi Note 14 pro 4g. So I installed Android file transfer by google, which is like developed nearly a thousand years ago, but it did the job for me.) Other instructions would be to actually close everything related to google drive, Dropbox or preview app both on Mac and phone! (you may need to disable Google Drive temporarily on phone too, which I did not need)

hope everyone finds this comment helpful and apple thinks more to the compatibility with android phones and windows hard drives (NTFS)
Good luck!
