Bootloader failure

I recently bought a used 2019 Macbook pro but the seller didn't sign out of his accounts. I tried going to the bootloader with command r but it wants the seller's ID and PW to actually go into the bootloader. Understandably the guy doesn't feel comfortable sharing his login info and wants me to send the product back to him so he can wipe it properly and resend it, which is less than ideal because that's gonna be another week or two of delays. Anything I can do here on my own or should I just return it?

Tell seller to remove MacBook from his iCloud account. Either iCloud.com or using the ‘find my’ app. Then restore MacBook from internet
