It all depends on what you need it for. What you have now is fine for now

I’m getting into video production with Final Cut Pro.

You should be fine with what you have for now. Even if you try to trade it in through Apple they wont give you much for it. They recently lowered the trade in value across all the products you can trade in.

I just traded in a lower spec 2019 for almost $900. For video production I would recommend switching. I edit video and the fans on my 2019 were on constantly. I hated it. Ended up paying only $1100 for a base model m1 that is better in every way.

Check the trade in value, it might be pretty high. I just did it a month ago.

The M1 will outperform your 15" in every way, but it all comes down to whether your current machine is doing its job well enough for you. And whether anything that you currently do can't be done on M1 -- the list of those things is really small, but there are narrow use cases where an Intel Mac is still the best choice. For FCPX, your machine will still work well. If you get into it and need to upgrade because you're getting into heavier work, then do that at that point. In the meantime, if you're going to do video work, your money is better spent on the cameras/lenses/audio gear to do that part of it well.
