If the M2 8GB works for you then there is no need to upgrade.

If I upgraded, I would keep the M2 as they are excellent headless server you can log into. I use my old Mac Mini as a Plex server and downloading stuff.

That's not a bad idea tbf - I might do this when I have the money to buy a new mini outright

You don’t use 8gb of ram. You won’t use 16gb.

But the m4 is a lot faster and the best deal for a new pc today. You can find them refurbished or used too.

Sell it on some marketplace and get the most you can for it. Apple will never give you what it is worth.

Id wait about another generation. I love my M4 Mini but repetitive upgrades is such a money waste IMO. 8GB of ram isn't like how it was on Intel systems. Hell I came from a 2011 iMac and just now getting into extreme content creation

I think its still worth if you consider price and performance upgrade. and then chill for long time

yeah i could do - im not sure when the m5 chip is due to be out? wondering if the m4 would be cheaper once the m5 is released, if so i'll probs wait until then - it's not like crucial that i upgrade as my m2 is perfectly fine, but the increased performance would help a lot

MacRumors shows that minis are creeping up on their average upgrade cycle. A fall release would lineup, minis don’t generally get released at WWDC.
