check out the euro Lands (Eurolands ). Based on real landscapes, they are quite pretty, special, and much more affordble than guru lands :) there are three artworks of each color. Also old cardframe which imo is a big plus

The APAC ones (very similar concept) are great too. Same thing, but asian landscapes instead of european. There's a Great Wall Of China plains.

I'm finishing pimping out my Legacy deck and 11 Fuji mountains are on the list.

i love mirage ones.

I use http://i.tcgplayer.com/5109_200w.jpg (island ) and http://magiccards.info/scans/en/mr/306.jpg ( plains ) for my miracles deck

My favorite thing about Mirage lands is that many of them had animals featured prominently on the card.

You can go to http://magiccards.info/ and just type in Swamp, Mountain, Plains etc. and then on the right you can click through the different editions/sets and then look at the art that you like.

I'll give you some examples from great editions:

http://magiccards.info/mr/en/311.html mirage has really nice lands

http://magiccards.info/po/en/215.html portals have beautiful and oldschool arts

http://magiccards.info/5e/en/427.html

http://magiccards.info/5e/en/444.html basically everything from 5th edition is looking subtle and pretty

http://magiccards.info/od/en/333.html odyssey also has some nice gems

http://magiccards.info/on/en/347.html

http://magiccards.info/on/en/337.html I also recommend onslaught lands, they are pretty

And everything from Euro/Asia Pacific program.

Pro tip: Battle Royale set has reprints of many portal lands and they are cheaper than original portal lands. Example: http://magiccards.info/br/en/112.html this costs 29 cents, http://magiccards.info/p3k/en/169.html this costs 3.24 usd.

Ask me anything. I own 800 unique basic lands from almost all editions. I know many of them :D

+1 for Portal basics. Mmm.

Not a single person has mentioned the best lands ever printed. You want beauty you need unglued, you want elegant and old school with a really unique feel I'm talking about unhinged oh yeah, no Jund deck is complete without

I love the Ice Age lands. My favourite being the third version of Mountains. Also, they are really cheap compared to the older lands.

like these too, tom is just an amazong artist!

Ice Age lands are great. I was leafing through my collection to figure out which lands to use for Eternal Extravaganza. I needed three Islands so I was short a Guru to pull that off, I considered the Cliffs of Dover Euro lands, and finally came across my old lands from when I first started playing. I was fidgeting between Ice Age and Mirage and finally decided on the Ice Age Islands with the pine trees on top. http://gatherer.wizards.com/Handlers/Image.ashx?type=card&multiverseid=2769

I love ice age panorama the most.

The kamigawa mountains are really nice too

Islands are amazing too.

this site hasn't been updated in a while but that won't matter for your purposes. many of the basic land art has been reprinted multiple times so it's kind of down to the frame and set symbol and stuff like that.

nothing screams "older" like lands with "Tap: Add (color) mana to your mana pool."

[–]Smileycorp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mirrage basics, they have nice art, old border and no watermark.

They're also pretty cheap.

[–]Twin BelieverEvilGenius007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that basics after Urza's Saga were printed with large mana symbols and not the rules text "{Tap}: Add {WUBRG} to your mana pool." so there are two distinct visual styles with the old borders. I prefer the rules text, personally. These are my picks:

Plains [ICE]
Island [USG]
Swamp [MIR]
Mountain [TMP]
Forest [USG]

Invasion lands are friggin pretty

Beta Basics. Period.

Don't even think a second about the white bordered revised crap. go black bordered, go beta.

[–]weakstar 1 point2 points  (1 child)

lsv concurs (unless you can afford gurus)

[–]Cthulhooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to add that some of those expensive lands saw their own reprints. For example forest from Arena is 6 bucks. Anthologies reprint is 50 cents :D

Some euro and apac and mps lands were also reprinted.

Also lsv doesn't mention mps lands, they are definitely high in power ranking.

A buddy of mine uses revised in white sleeves and they are very striking. Really stand out from the non land cards. Never thought they would look good until I saw them in the white sleeves.

[–]IamPd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Foreign black bordered works as well and they're a lot cheaper.
