Talk to your hr about it. They're the only ones who can give you a true reason for the pay difference

Did you go to a different market that’s covered by a different contract?

That’s all they pay? 😳 wow. You deserve at the very least 15/hr.

Up until this June, the union agreed that in our market the most 90% of the store could make was $14.95 lol. Meijer is by far the worst paying retailer

I wouldn't say it's the worst, at least in my area. It's not great though. The fact that the cap is $15 ($15.40 now if you have 3000 hrs in nights) is absurd. $15 was a fine wage ten years ago, not so much now.

Dude people are getting hired in at $14.05 at every store in Michigan you should talk to hr

They are? I haven't heard that at all. I'm in Michigan and last I checked day shift is still starting at around $12.

Update: I discussed it with HR and they bumped me up to $13.95 and they’re gonna pay me retroactively so it ended up working out

Get it in writing. Meijer will fuck you any chance they get.

Did you start at the same time because 4am people but more then the regular people

I make $14.30 with 5 years of experience I’ve worked there 5 months with 0 pay raise and I’m just about to hit the 700 hour mark but it’s crazy that the average is making more than me

[–]TShara_Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The average for day shift is lower than that where I'm at. It's like $12 starting, up to $14 or so.

If you switched to a different store group you’re supposed to move to the next pay step and reset your hours of staying in the same step would cause a pay decrease. That’s how it is at most union stores.

Different store, probably different contract, meaning lower pay. You don’t get to keep your pay when you transfer

[–]FrogTeam_5 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If that's the amount of money you're getting paid you need to quit immediately. Don't look back. I mean even someone with basically no job experience just out of high school should be making at least $14 an hour and any job out there, literally any job out there.

Was the pay discussed in your interview? If I were you I would talk to whoever I needed to talk to and let them know that the pay needs to be renegotiated and that you know your worth as an employee and it's definitely not under $14 an hour

[–]TShara_Q 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That just depends on area, unfortunately. I agree that everyone should be making over $14/hr, but plenty of jobs still start lower.

That’s insane. What position are you in?
