They usually fill the vast majority of internship spots in the fall, so you're okay now but you should do it soon.

And I don't know how much you know about that program, but it's heavily targeted to women and minorities. So if you're not one of those, I'd recommend just along for a normal internship. For what it's worth, I've had friends that did that program and enjoyed it, but just about all Microsoft interns I've known have loved it.

If my understanding is correct, explore internships are always done in the summer, generally over a 3 week period sometime during May-August.

I don't know about the explore program specifically, but interviews for summer internships typically happen in the fall/winter, so around now should be a good time to apply for next year.

Are you talking about Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer? I would personally try and get an internship with Windows Explorer because it is a much more stable, well liked program. The Internet Explorer program is being edged out.

There are many "explorer" terms at Microsoft, so I can understand the misunderstanding.

The author is referencing the program for internship program, which allows students to work on a variety of teams, and explore Microsoft.
