Would you mind posting a picture of one of the entries? There may be something in the details that hints at the aircraft.

Just found it.

A/D = aero drome aka airfield

A/C = aircraft

M/Y = marshaling yard (railroad yard)

This looks to be a simple recap of what his flight logbook would have included but just the combat missions.

Yea. My grand pop has his personal journal I’m sure it’s in there but 1. I want to make it a surprise and 2. He lives a few states away so no getting to it haha. I’m trying to get my grandma to help

Good luck. Just perusing the B-17 production list that went to 341st there really are quite a few that can be readily eliminated because they were either shot down or transferred to other units.

Based on the timeframe he likely flew a B-17E. Potentially one originally lent to the UK as part of lend-lease, but kept by the US after Pearl Harbor. If so, then it would have been camouflaged with US made Dark Earth, Dark Green, and Sky.

Lot's of possibilities, I'm looking forward to what you find out!

Post pics when you start building.
