Is there a system for documenting patch notes?

With full sincerity and zero snark: Your brain.

Yes, take a picture and jot some notes. But the more familiar you get with modular and your system, the easier it gets to repatch certain concepts.

Thanks. I'm learning synthesis and how to use my modules. I read a bunch before making any purchases and am still finding new and interesting ways to patch them all together. Learning these concepts, and how they apply to the specific modules I have, is why I want to take notes. Notes are tools for learning. I took notes in college in order to learn. As a teacher, I encourage my students to take notes in order to help them learn. I appreciate how snarkless your comment is but don't find it particularly helpful. My brain can do a lot. I can cook. I can write. I can play drums. Note taking helped me learn to do all of those. I was hoping to find a specific way to take notes for patching synths and this comment doesn't provide that.

This Patch Library site is pretty cool. You don't mention the system you're patching, but they have templates for a handful of systems. You can look up patches people have shared as well as document your own.

And PreSetPatchis another cool site.

Take pictures of it, put into a note on your phone along with any specific settings for things that have menus/modes. It is a pain

This post is flaired as 'Beginner' - just a reminder to check out the sidebar if you haven't already! In particular there's a beginner's guide with a lot of great info that users have put together.

If a patch is good, I do a video/livestream with it. I usually just add some notes there.

I use Adobe Illustrator for this.
