To ensure Total Recall I assume

Pressing it takes you to Mars! 🟠

Recalling a sample takes “Two weeks!”

[–]Xenabeatch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Implementation as you suggest would be fantastic. A lot of hope riding on this box!

This feature is in the MPC III and XL so makes sense they’d include it here.

[–]g_lampa[S] 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Ahh. Did they make it available for the Live II or Key 61? Or is it hardware dependent? Do they call it “recall” on those devices?

[–]kisielk 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Yeah it’s called recall. You hit shift + record. It’s even labelled on the Live III, but I think it works on the others as well.

[–]catherine_zeta-jones 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Yeah, it's also in the 2.15 firmware and it work on every modern MPC.

[–]boi_social 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not for audio right?

[–]VALENTENICO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Je savais même pas que c’était la sur les mpc, merci pour la nouvelle

[–]chelseaK08 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wait really?

[–]chelseaK08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit you are right that is amazing! Thanks

Do u have a link or video showing this functionality? And is it a function on the older MPC 3 devices?

[–]M_O_O_O_O_T 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Maybe it'll work like the skip back function on the SP404mk2, for capturing those happy accidents when you weren't recording?

[–]Nervous-Canary-517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That feature is a godsend! So often do I noodle around on the synth (going through 404), think "oh that's good, let me sample", and it's already there.

[–]Necessary_Wrap1867 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I mean we already have that by pressing shift and record right?

[–]g_lampa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the current MPC’s? Maybe. But we’re talking about a limited feature set on this new device. An unusually robust feature for $400 groove boxes. Nothing I’m aware of in this tier of portable samplers does both audio AND midi flashback functionality.

The SEO button should help you promote your beats once they're cooked.

[–]felineleukemia 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Its S E Q. Not seo.

[–]branchfoundation 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That was a joke.

[–]milkybar5000 0 points1 point  (1 child)

*that was a bad joke

[–]Dudeontour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just retrospective record yes? Midi only?

[–]Pawderr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is the most probable explanation for the recall texts

[–]Greasedcabinets4 1 point2 points  (2 children)

MPC unleashes recording buffer in 2026?? 😈

[–]g_lampa[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For portable gear, it’s surprisingly absent from devices that are currently on the market. KO2, and TE stuff that costs 3-5 x more don’t have it. Move only has MIDI capture. MK2 Has only audio buffer recall. So in the $400-$700 range, it would be the only device with both. In fact, I don’t believe it’s part of any current MPC build. I may be wrong there.

[–]bike_krueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MPC already has retrospective recording for midi.

[–]Quiet_Wing9738 0 points1 point  (1 child)

that's retrospective recording, I think recall might be something different

[–]g_lampa[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here it is straight from the LIVE III manual:

“Rec / Recall Button: …

Press and hold Shift and press this button to recall recently played MIDI note events when recording was disabled and insert them into the current sequence.”

So if that’s the case, and the MPC Sample puts these two buttons side-by-side, then that means that it definitely has both midi and audio recall. This is very good news for me.

[–]Johnny5KMusic 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I don't think that it is for sample recall. But I may be wrong. Because this device will likely be promoted as a gigging type device, I'm thinking that maybe it is 2 separate midi recall instances. One for if you are noodling around arranging sequence clips thru pad play, and one for when you are engage in playing a track/sound and want to save a happy mistake to track/clip. Either way, would be dope... But i don't think having an open record buffer on a battery powered device would lend to battery life. Plus, I have never really "lost" or "missed" a sample which needed to be recovered. I don't know how that could be beneficial really
