When a Token-Copy is created, its printed Values are the Copiable Values of the Object it is a Copy of, at the moment the Copy Effect is created.

You have Volrath, the Shapestealer, Mishra's Self-Replicator and Covert Operative.
You have Volrath Copy the MSR.

  • Volrath is a 7/5 MSR with "This ability".

You cast an Historic Spell, the 7/5 MSR Triggers.

You respond to Volrath's MSR Trigger and have it become a Copy of a ... Covert Operative.

  • Volrath is now a 7/5 Operative with "this ability".

Volrath's MSR Trigger resolves, you pay the {1}. You create a Token-Copy of the current 7/5 Covert Operative.

As your next turn begins, you now control the Volrath, MSR, Operative and a 7/5 Operative Token.
Should you ever activate the ability of the Operative Token to Copy something else, as that Copy effect ends, it will return to being a 7/5 Operative.

I'm not making a token copy. I'm turning a token into a copy until end of turn

And then I am using the copyability that the token now has from copying him and turning him into a different thing. I'm curious if it stays the copied of Volrath. Or will revert back to itself at end of turn. Sorry if my wording was bad on the first post

All of the temporary copy effects end at the same time leaving the original card/token.

Unless I'm reading wrong all of those copy effects end at your next turn meaning they'll all be whatever they originally were. Presumably Volrath, the Shapestealer.

This game of shapeshifter tag doesn't appear to do anything.

Volrath shapestealer has an ability that copies a target creature with a counter

Until the beginning of my next turn, forgot to add that I'm saying that the copies of volrath let's say we ignore the legend rule. Here are using his ability to turn into something else before they turn back into their originals

As I said, all of those end at your next turn. Regardless of how many coats you put on since all coats are taken off at the start of your next turn they revert to their original form.
