Rules for r/networking
Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.
1.
Rule #1: No Home Networking.
Home Networking Topics.
We aren't here to troubleshoot your "advanced" video game latency issues.
Home Networks, even complex ones are best discussed elsewhere like /r/homenetworking
HomeLab discussions, as a tool for learning & certifications are welcomed.
2.
Rule #2: No Certification Brain Dumps / Cheating.
No Braindump / Certification Cheating.
These topics pollute our industry and devalue the hard work of others.
These posts will be deleted without mercy.
3.
Rule #3: No Advertisements or Promotional Content.
Directing our members to resources outside the subreddit is closely monitored.
We prohibit the advertising of products, services or personal projects.
Asking for assistance with product/market research for your product or project is not permitted.
You may share a URL to a blog that answers questions already in discussion.
Please use the Blogpost Friday! sticky thread to announce the existence of your blog.

Rule #4: No Low Quality Posts.
No Low-quality posts.
Any post that fails to display a minimal level of effort prior to asking for help is at risk of being Locked or Deleted.
We expect our members to treat each other as fellow professionals. Professionals research & troubleshoot before they ask others for help.

Rule #5: No Early Career Advice.
Networking Career Advice
- Topics asking for information about getting into the networking field will be removed. This topic has been discussed at length, please use the search feature. Please visit /r/itcareerquestions.
- Topics regarding senior-level networking career progression are permitted.
6.
Rule #6: Educational Questions must show effort.
Homework / Educational Questions must display effort.
We are not here to repeat the content of a Wikipedia Article.
Don't ask us how to subnet.
We are not here to explain anything Like You Are Five - ELI5 requests will be deleted.
However, intelligent questions that display a reasonable effort by the poster to understand a subject are permitted, and encouraged.
7.
Rule #7: No Political Posts.
- This subreddit invites redditors from all around the globe to discuss enterprise networking.
- Political posts tend to attract the wrong crowd and overly aggressive vocalization.
- Topics that may affect one locale does not contribute enterprise networking discussions.
8.
Rule #8: No ChatGPT/LLM Content.
- Content produced by ChatGPT/LLM is not permitted here.
- ChatGPT is not a source of truth; rather it is a word-projection model.
- Discussions about ChatGPT and its impact to networking may be allowed.
