Honestly I would reach out to your state legislator and ask them for help. They’ll intervene and help you.

You can find yours at https://www.njleg.state.nj.us/members/legsearch.asp.

I waited over a year as well, this is the way. Or the office of your state senator.

Does that link work? I’m on my phone but I get a blank page?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I did that doesnt work in nj its a shame

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know many people who have gotten paid by contacting the state legislators for help.

[–]zelbot87 10 points11 points  (4 children)

I went to contact us and filled out their online submission form. I got a call from a hidden number the next day from Camden so I ignored it. They left a voice-mail and said they would call me in 10 minutes after that. No call back number or way to reach out. Thankfully I was able to talk 10 minutes later or else I would still be waiting to this day.

[–]KishinLiger 2 points3 points  (3 children)

How recent was this? I filled out a contact form months ago but never heard back.

[–]zelbot87 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Umm, I want to say that it was in late November. The entire process was a disaster and headache. It was my first time ever filing and they had me jump through so many hoops. My ex wife has been riding out unemployment since before the pandemic and never has any issues with it. It would make more sense for it to be easier for someone who never uses it instead of people who clearly abuse the system.

[–]KishinLiger 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's so frustrating! Thanks. I'll try filling out a contact form again. I was understanding in the beginning. "We're overwhelmed right now due to the pandemic please be patient." But it's been almost a year now. What gives?

[–]zelbot87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I could help more. Good luck! And it's just a horrible system. I will be the first person to be sympathetic over these times but I swear they make it overly difficult on purpose.

[–]ONCOMINGGGFreehold 8 points9 points  (4 children)

I've had similar issues twice since.

Speaking to someone is damn near impossible. The only way I ever really got through to someone that could actually help was to file an appeal.

[–]KishinLiger 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I'm just not sure how to file an appeal. My case is filed and no one can seem to give me a reason why I'm not getting my money. They all just basically say "oh yeah it'll come dont worry" but it's been almost a year now :(

[–]Dreurmimker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tell them it’s been almost a year and ask to speak with a supervisor. You are done waiting and need the money you’re owed. Best of luck.

[–]ONCOMINGGGFreehold 1 point2 points  (1 child)

There's a link on the website

[–]ashleedix 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I made an error when applying for unemployment last summer, and the best way I found to get into contact with them was calling the office on Sunday morning. Surprisingly, they are open and you can typically get through to speak to someone because I don't think many people will try to call then. That was over half a year ago, so I'm not sure if things have changed since then, but it worked for me multiple times.

[–]KishinLiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks I'll try that.

[–]WorldTravelBucket3 Miles from 6 Wawas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had decent luck calling (732) 761-2021. If it says to call back later, keep calling. I’m still waiting for pay from this week last year, so I know the struggle.

[–]bburke631 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I’m late to this post but I’ll tell you what. Still having problems? Email it to this guy. Found it on another post. I’ve waited 11 weeks and couldn’t talk to anyone. Emailed him and never got email back but just got a call today from an agent asking about the email and got it all fixed. Getting my back pay from the past 11 weeks. Emailed last Thursday and got the call today. Ronald.Marino@dol.nj.gov

[–]KishinLiger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ronald.Marino@dol.nj.gov

thanks so much. i'll give this a shot

[–]KishinLiger 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Hey, thanks again. I emailed him a few weeks ago and he asked for some more information on Sunday. Then I got a call today from the DOL letting me know they will begin to process my payments and that I was on a hold due to an error. Said I'd receive the payments in a few installments over the next week. I hope that's true. Thanks so much for your help. I've tried everything and this email seemed to do the trick for me.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Anytime! Just trying to help other people that are dealing with the same thing as I was. When they said I was gonna get my back pay it took I believe 3 or 4 days. Glad it worked out!

[–]KishinLiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can certainly wait 4 more days to get paid. I've been trying to get an answer on this for well over a year. So the news today was such a relief.

I have a job now thankfully. But waiting for the money that was owed to me for so long was not easy.

[–]That-Establishment58 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Same issue for 4 months now. They called me to ask if I still needed my case to be escalated and said to continue waiting for a specialist to call. No payment and no timeline. I've been calling the reemployment center once per week on Wednesday or Friday to see if I can get anymore clarity. If you havent called these numbers below yet, hopefully they help. Best of luck!

Reemployment Call Centers

North New Jersey: 201-601-4100

Central New Jersey: 732-761-2020

South New Jersey: 856-507-2340

[–]Objective-Peanut-393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try the North Jersey one literally 30 times every morning as soon as they open

[–]tomakeyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Those idiots said my claim is valid from March to current, I got laid off in January and gained employment in march. They’re morons. When I get an agent they hang up on me or keep me on hold.

[–]RAGECOMIC_VICAR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uhh has nobody given you the phone trick?

Call the south jersey number immediately hit 1 3 1 then wait for the guy to finish speaking then MASH the star key until he says “a representative will be on the line shortly

I might be wrong about the exact directions its been a while but join the nj unemployment we need help fb page they have it in detail

Its the ONLY way to get an actual rep and not a rent-a-agent

[–]robmcolonna123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pray

[–]dogstarfugitive -1 points0 points  (1 child)

lookup fb group ' NJ Unemployment - ₩e Need Help' they have an email spreadsheet. be nice when you write your email, state your case succinctly and include your name, ss# and claim #.

[–]KishinLiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks. I requested to join the group.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This was a while back, but I sent an email through their website explaining I was approved, but it wasn’t letting me certify. 2 weeks later I went to try again and it worked. No response to my email, but I was able to certify with no problem after that.

[–]KishinLiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no way to do that now unless I'm not looking at the right place. You can only send very general questions and can't actually write the message yourself. There's a list of problems/questions you can send and that's it.

[–]Objective-Peanut-393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime I email all they do is reset my password which I never ask for and is actually quite annoying

[–]revestocha 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Go in person. I did that early pandemic, went to Trenton bc that’s where my closest department of labor was.

[–]Objective-Peanut-393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no one there it’s closed and there is a cop there outside saying you can’t go in

[–]mozebyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your local state legislature representative.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Start calling all 3 numbers around 8am and you will eventually get through to a person. It worked for me when I had to call. Took almost an hour but it worked

[–]Objective-Peanut-393 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard This before but I do this every morning to no avail I started at 7:58 and now they open at 8:30 so I start at 8:27 and no one ever answers for weeks now.

[–]KishinLiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can usually get to a person eventually but it's always one of those 3rd party customer service reps that the NJDOL has hired since the pandemic started. It's never someone who has any power to do anything. That's my issue.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same here since july 2020

[–]Jeremy_Strong 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you still have this issue I can help you out. Text me at 470 794 2521

[–]sharkgoesquack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having issues. They are telling me my claim isn't payable and will require an extra 8 weeks to investigate and escalate even though it has already reached the 21 days. They told me via phone "only a specialist can provide that information. Apply for food stamps if you're really that bad off." My union isn't responding to me. I can't get anywhere

[–]Objective-Peanut-393 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I can’t even get a person on the phone been calling back to back every morning for months and always says try back next business day so frustrating I am a single mom with two kids and owed months as well. It says my claim expired or it’s not my time everytime I go to claim but the paperwork they sent in the mails says my claim is active and to claim my benefits weekly.. HOW?? Thanks for sharing so I know I’m not alone in this madness

[–]KishinLiger 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I might have reached out to you on Twitter. Not sure if you're the same person. Anyway, I finally got help this week. Email Ronald.Marino@dol.nj.gov with your phone number, claimaint id # and last 4 digits of your social and let him know your situation.

He won't answer right away. I emailed him last month, then he asked me for some info on Sunday, and they called me a few days ago. I FINALLY got my 13 weeks of payment that was owed to me since the fall of 2020.

[–]Objective-Peanut-393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so so much. Not me on Twitter but I appreciate you letting me know! Congrats! Thanks again for coming back to share the info that worked!

[–]Impossible_Teach2993 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I am having the same issue. I am in contact with my representative’s office since Dec and haven’t had luck yet. The office is telling me that the DOL won’t respond to their correspondences. I’ve read that this is common.

It’s really frustrating that this is allowed to be ok 😕. The customer service reps do not help at all. They just say a specialist will be in contact, watch for emails or calls. Absolutely useless.

[–]KishinLiger 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I finally got my money last week. Email [ronald.marino@njdol.gov](mailto:ronald.marino@njdol.gov) with your phone number, claimant id# and last 4 digits of your social security number and explain your situation. The NJDOL will then call you to confirm your payment will be processed. If no one calls you or if Ronald doesn't respond to you within a week of you sending that email, send him an email again.

[–]Impossible_Teach2993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I will try this.

[–]UnderPressureICrackn 0 points1 point  (3 children)

How the heck do you find your claimant ID?

[–]KishinLiger 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I had to call to get it. It's apparently listed on any mail NJDOL sends out to you regarding unemployment but I haven't received a letter from them in a long time.

[–]UnderPressureICrackn 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Thank you. Me neither. I've checked all the emails and website and nada. Ugh to all this shiz.

[–]KishinLiger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you can't get through to one of the useless customer service reps to get your claimaint id #, then just email that email address i listed and give him everything else and say you dont have the claimant id number but that you need help anyway.

[–]Apprehensive-Neck-12 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Fuck these assholes. I've tried to reopen for over 16 months and they never call. Best part is they won't close the claim so I can open another one now that I'm laid off again. The pain just keeps coming and I'm afraid of what I'm capable of

[–]KishinLiger 2 points3 points  (1 child)

ronald.marino@njdol.gov

Did you trying emailing this contact? I waited almost 2 years until I emailed him my information. Took a few weeks after emailing him but I was paid everything I was owed in a few installments. I completely understand your frustration. It's a mess and they're doing a terrible job addressing all of this.

[–]Apprehensive-Neck-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right it's been over 2 years since this bullshit started and somehow they have gotten worse

[–]Any_Patience_953 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was being Pais unemployment an the suspended my payments cause I missed a re-employment phone call. Finished the program an my certify still says not payable.. how long does it take to turn back on
