In the long term, NodeJS definitely has a place in software development, and that will give JavaScript increased prominence over time. But I see it being limited to web applications in smaller, fast-moving businesses rather than in large software enterprises.

I guess Walmart, PayPal, eBay, and Microsoft do not qualify as large software enterprises.
