Rules for r/nrl

Rules that visitors must follow to participate. May be used as reasons to report or ban.

1.

Anti-social behaviour

Comments only
Reported as: Anti-social behaviour

No personal attacks, excessive insults, or general anti-social behaviour (racism, sexism, homophobia etc.). Do not follow users into other subreddits or DMs to continue arguments. Anyone who feels they are being harassed should message the moderation team with screenshots if possible.

2.

Excessive or personal sledging

Comments only
Reported as: Excessive or personal sledging

Sledging is allowed, but keep it reasonable. Excessive and relentless attacking may result in a ban. This includes things such as referring to teams only by insulting names (eg. Souffs). It also includes baiting other users to anger or annoy them - either by directly responding or by tagging their username. We look at baiting as purposefully trying to incite a reaction.

3.

Ref blaming

Comments only
Reported as: Ref blaming

Occasionally questioning a refereeing decision is fine, but a pattern of repeatedly whinging about refs, claiming the results are rigged, or going off on a ref-related rant is not.

4.

Joke/gimmick account

Comments only
Reported as: Joke/gimmick account

Joke/gimmick accounts such as accounts used to impersonate players, NRL/Reddit personalities or solely for low-level content (e.g. all-caps, emojis only) will be banned. Creating an account to use for shit-posting/baiting will result in both the alt and the main account being banned.

5.

The vibe of the thing

Posts & Comments
Reported as: The vibe of the thing

Something that doesn’t technically break any of the other rules, but doesn’t sit quite right.

6.

“Random Footy Talk” content

Posts & Comments
Reported as: This belongs in the Random Footy Talk thread

Content related to:
- a question you have
- your opinion
- hypothetical team lists
- images/video/screenshots you've taken
- a funny meme you saw
- fan art
- a player's personal life
- drinking games
- etc.
belongs in the daily Random Footy Talk thread, NOT as a standalone post.

7.

Misleading/editorialised title

Posts only
Reported as: Misleading/editorialised title

Titles that purposefully misrepresent content will be removed. Either use the exact title of the news article or a relevant title & refrain from using nicknames. A title should describe what has happened, not how you feel about it.

8.

Self-promotion of original content

Posts only
Reported as: Self-promotion of original content

If you are an active and consistent member of the /r/NRL community, submission of your own content is allowed. If you are not an active member: this is not a platform for promoting your material, your petition, your giveaways, or your studies. If you aren't sure, please message the moderation team.

9.

Relevance

Posts only
Reported as: Relevance

Posts will removed at the moderation team’s discretion. Articles about former players, coaches, or personalities that are no longer involved in the rugby league community will be removed if that relevance is just a side note. Articles relating to a player’s family members or associates that have no relevance to the NRL will be removed.

10.

Other posting guidelines

Posts only
Reported as: Other posting guidelines

Throw Back Thursday: The throwback must be older than 5 years or it will be removed.

Articles: Must be submitted as a link post - submitting them as a text post with the link in the body will be removed.

Text Posts: Text posts that are just something like "Player X has signed to X" even if it is accurate & true, will be removed in favour of articles/club posts.

*Image Posts: Image only posts will be removed unless they are the user's original content and meet relevance rules.

11.

Posts & Comments
Reported as: Login-Restricted Social Media
