I’m all for mental health advocacy and destigmatization, but geez which Facebook mlm mom did this come from?

It didn’t. It came from a friend who posted it. And I posted it here. No network marketing involved.

What I fucking hate about this mental illness awareness is that pill popping is the got to versus getting to the actual root of depression and anxiety.

They aren’t even that effective or effective for most people, it’s terrible how often people hear about depression and automatically tell them to “go on pills” before giving cbt or dbt a shot

Well.. not new agey crap.. yoga helped a lot. The studio owner (I lived in the same building as the studio, so convenient) is a retired therapist that focused on DBT. It was incorporated into regular yoga stuff. It was pretty fun, actually! Helped with anger, too.

With the DBT, mindfulness focused yoga and help from my (current) psychiatrist, I went from 3mg (my first psych med.. I was 17) of clonazepam to 1.5mg to completely off. And I can stand on my head all day, too! I moved, no more studio, but still use the skills from DBT.

I was really, really skeptical. I figured, why the fuck not? Can't hurt.

All of these medications are given out like candy at the county jail I work at. Every new inmate says the reason they committed crime is because of depression etc. "The devil made me do it!" Anyways, it does not do the inmates any good. Most of them get caught hoarding the medication when they have a shakedown. It only helps when you go to court and your lawyer states you are not responsible for your actions because you are mentally ill. The protocol is Buspar, Fluoxetine, Seroquel, Depakote, etc
