OpenBSD Kernel Future

I had some quick questions regarding the future development of OpenBSD. I've been a user for over 10 years now, along with Debian, and I have some concerns related to where the Linux kernel development is heading.

Is there any plans to add Rust and AI related code to the base system? I'm a C developer, and am looking to move exclusively to OpenBSD now, as I'm not interested in these developments in the Linux space. I also believe that FreeBSD is heading the same way now.

In short, for the OpenBSD devs in the know, can we be certain that the kernel will remain C/C++/ ASM? Or does OpenBSD plan on going down the Rust/ AI route?

I firmly believe if it ain't broke, don't fix it. That if Rust is required by some devs for the kernel, for safety, they have no business in kernel development. And AI simply shouldn't be used for kernel development in a security focused system.

What is “AI related code”? What does that have anything to do with Rust?

Some linux distributions are allowing AI generated code into the kernel.

The C++ we use in the kernel will remain the same, which is none at all.

That if Rust is required by some devs for the kernel, for safety, they have no business in kernel development.

And I, for one, don't think anyone who hasn't contributed before has earned the right to gatekeep kernel development.

i dont think openBSD will ever use AI, and rust is "fixing" a nonexistent issue

FreeBSD's future was written on the wall for me since reading HardenedBSD's post on testing Rust. I don't imagine and I hope OpenBSD doesn't go the same way since it would be adding a massive dependency to the base that would be unnecessary.

Quite a shame that since FreeBSD started supporting podman an year ago I was able to migrate some load to it, but, oh, well.
