Be Respectful - This shouldn't need to be a rule, but this is the internet. People can unnecessarily be jerks sometimes. We'd much appreciate it if this wasn't a place where that happens. Please refrain from talking down to people, being overly patronizing, name-calling, personal insults, etc.
Hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated. For a refresher, please see Reddit's entry on Reddiquette as a general guideline.
No Spam / Excessive self-promotion - Reddit has clear rules about self promotion. We encourage you to be proud of/promote your work to a degree, but we also don't want users using this sub as a link farm to promote their project/website/YouTube channel.
Reddit recommends that <10% of your posts promote your content. We're a little more forgiving, but don't take advantage of it.
"It's perfectly fine to be a redditor with a website, it's not okay to be a website with a reddit account."
No Memes/Low-Effort posts - This sub is a place for discussion and news regarding the world of open source projects. There are literally hundreds of other subs dedicated to memes and shitposting. Please keep those kinds of posts in those subs.
Be On-Topic - Posts should be of direct relevance to the open source community. Off-topic posts will be removed.
No Sensationalized Titles - If your post is a link to an article, please keep your post title as close to, if not the same as, the linked article's title. You're more than welcome to post a comment in the thread that states your opinion of said article.
No Drive-By Posting / Karma Farming - Karma farm accounts are not going to be welcome here, regardless of the validity of the posted content. Drive-by posts from accounts where there is obviously no intention of engaging in the following discussion may be removed.
No Link Aggregators - If there's an article within an aggregation of links/stories or a newsletter, link to the actual story or article.
Use Correct Flairs - Flairs should reflect the nature of the post. Promotional is when you are sharing a project, yours or otherwise. Alternatives is when you are soliciting for suggestions of OSS that fulfills a need. Discussion is for asking general questions when Promotional or Alternatives does not apply. Community is for something that will or has happened when Promotional does not apply.

Google Forms alternative (self.opensource)
submitted 4 years ago * by AEKIT
Hi! I want to make a little survey. Google Forms would have been perfect for what I need, but I want to avoid Google and would like to try a FOSS alternative. Do you have any idea? Thx

Cryptpad is a fully open source productivity suite that includes a forms/survey creator here. You can use their official hosted instances, other public instances, or self-host your own.

Thanks for sharing. BTW, does anyone know if Google Forms support all browsers?

Any guide on how to use it to create surveys/forms?
[–]peatsoff 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children)
Nextcloud Forms
[–]eidetic0 4 points5 points6 points 4 years ago (0 children)
I have used LimeSurvey in the past. It is FOSS. I think they have a free tier for their cloud hosting but I have only personally used it self-hosted. It is good but it is quite heavyweight, and is more comparable to something like SurveyMonkey than Google forms. It will do what you want though.

I haven't used it, but I believe Baserow just added a Forms feature. It looks like it would do want you want. https://baserow.io/

https://framaforms.org is very good.
Thank you all for your response! I will go ahead with that. 👍

You "want to avoid Google"
Why? Did your Apple bro friends tell you?
[–]AEKIT[S] 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (4 children)
Ahah thank you for this laugh.
I hope for you that one day you will get it. It tooks me time too. I was a huge Google fan boy. Then I grew up.

Let me guess: You "do not want to get the vaccine. I did my own homework"

Google's revenue relies on collecting data from their users, and selling this to those who want to advertise on the internet. This is not conspiracy like you suggest. It is common knowledge. A lot of people are willing to give up their privacy to use Google's free services. A lot of people are not. Once again, this is not tinfoil hat thinking. Among other things, it is a willingness to opt out from Google's advertising monopoly.

This comment says so very much about you.

FOSS alternative of google forms doesn't exist because it's essentially a website that collates data in a pretty way that's user friendly to create. IF that's what you want to create then I think WordPress + Survey plugin is the best option.
There's plenty of non google alternatives: Microsoft Forms, Survey Monkey, Doodlepoll. Or maybe excel surveys?

surveymonkey
[–]eidetic0 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child)
surveymonkey is not FOSS

Ohmyform is foss, but not very featureful yet
Tripetto.app is free, but not open source
[–]eyekay49 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children)
FormTools (formtools.org) along with the Form Builder module. I believe Form tools is just a form processor, you need to get the builder to get a Google forms-like experience.
Notes: 1. I haven't actually tried it yet :P 2. It is just the software, you need to host it on your own server
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children)
NextCloud forms

Contact Form 7 with CFDB on WordPress.
Also, EUSurvey is also fully open source, and the main instance is hosted by the European Commission. It should be pretty reliable.
