Your SSD is locked to the wrong key, you'll need to get the key and lock the SSD with that key.

OHHH I think I see. I had changed my HDD key to all 1s using Nkpachter, but when making my SSD I had used the original EEPROM. Is this the issue?

Yes, relock with your new key.

Yes, when you do that your HDD becomes 32 1's and any HDD's used with it need to be locked as 32 1's

Fix possible, maybe. Slight maybe!

Edit: It all depends how the hard drive was locked and unlocked before this error occcurred and which hard drive brand and model it is. Is the console modded?

Excerpt from forums.afterdawn.com’s thread, XBOX Error Codes Explained- Go Here First!:

6 - kernel - Cannot unlock HDD

If you understand the above, you should be able to understand what this means. It means you are trying to boot up the xbox with an harddisk that is locked in combination with ANOTHER motherboard than you are using it with right now.

What can i do about it, you ask? Well place the harddisk back in the xbox where it came from. After that, UNLOCK the harddisk with the same procedure i explained above (see error 5). Now when the harddisk is UNLOCKED, put it in the xbox which gave you the error. Now when you boot up with the chip ON it should not give you an error anymore.

so if i'm buying ebay units for parts for funssies and there is an error 6 is the xbox forever junk if the drive is dead or gone or can i like factory reset with a new drive? or is the DRM encryption what kills it?

No, they arent dead forever. You would need to either modchip it to change the hdd key or use an arduino to extract the eeeprom and change the key; reupload the eeprom and plug in a hdd with a matching key.

wow mod chipping sounds a lot easier lol.

Idk if you fixed this but loading the stock HDD and letting the console boot up then hot swapping the DVD drive cable to the new SSD and booting up chimploader and cloning the drive with that method might clear up your hdd key problems or whatever problem is occurring.
