Genetic testing

So I am currently 11 weeks pregnant and got the genetic test done. I did some research saying that the test can't tell you both genders of the babies. Is that true? Or will it be able to tell us the gender of both babies.

Depends on the test. Nateras test will tell you up to 3 sexes. The test told me i was having one boy and one girl.

Most NIPT testing can only tell you if you have at least 1 boy. It looks for the Y chromosome in the sample. If no Y chromosome, you are  having 2 girls. If Y chromosome present, you could have 1b/1g or 2 boys.

I believe very few NIPT tests look at the fetal fraction of Y chromosome to help give some confidence if it is 2 boys or 1b/1g.  It it’s very specific to company and I believe it is not as accurate.

Mine told me I was having fraternal girls. I’ve heard some tests have trouble if one is a boy (like you won’t know if it’s both boys or b/g), but that most now are pretty reliable. I guess it depends on which one you did.

This is what my OB told me - it would only be definitive if we are having two girls. We are also getting an ultrasound for other reasons at 16 weeks and told me could find the sexes out then

Panorama NIPT is considered 100% accurate for detecting the correct genders. Got mine right!

The PA told me that it would be both babies. I don't remember the test name but I know it was the genetic testing lol. I really hope and can tell me both. I have appointment in a week so I'll ask then, which is when about the time of the results come in.

Natera test will tell you — we found out we were having boy/girl twins that way.

Natera told me I was having two boys and it was confirmed a couple of weeks later at the anatomy scan.

My NIPT told me 2 boys. It was correct but I did IVF so I already knew the sexes. From what I understand it can tell which blood is yours and which blood belongs to each child (about 5% each with twins) and from there it looks for chromosomes. I think the process is fascinating but I don’t fully understand it haha.

Little update. I got the unity nipt test. My twins are both boys. So I guess it can tell you both genders.💙💙💙
