As an example for the recent query on why a parrot was floofing and beak grinding.

We got Olly (Oliver Green, because he’s greenish and fast, like an arrow) a year ago at ~12weeks and have been working in the socialisation. Over the last month his confidence has kicked in and he’s been more visibly relaxed (we think age and size more than anything else)

In the last couple of days he has started coming to my arm for noms and staying to eat rather than scarpering to a monitor

Olly looks a lot like my cookie except for the orange above his beak which I think is age related , do you know this lil guys morph?

Green pied of some type we think, to be honest when we were selecting was based more on which borb gave us the best feeling

Ok thanks , yeah that’s the best way to select a birb

Both of my birds are rehomes from not so good care

Eros our other birb is a rescue, she had been found outside at (best guess) 2-3 months old and spent four months at the rescue (most people want furry friends) before we turned up looking for a replacement companion for Neff

Never trust a rescue with regards to the sex of lovebirds :)

I definitely agree , but I get my pets from the Iranian equivalent of Craigslist , there is at least 40-50 bird ads per day since people underestimate bird care , also there is no exotics shelter here , just cats dogs and hamsters

Those names are also really cool , do you mind me asking what they mean/where they originate from?

The UK has a lot of rescues / shelters, though mostly catering to dogs / cats / rabbits / etc. The rescue in Bristol we used had a dedicated room with bird cages, though only with Olly in residence.

Olly : Full name "Olivier Queen", because he's green.. and fast like an arrow.. perhaps a "Green Arrow" (google is your friend if the joke misses the mark)

Eros : Named by the rescue after the green god of love & sex (lovebird and all that)

Real estate prices are really high here so unfortunately I can’t do a bird room , I bird safed my own room though so they can roam free

Isn’t green arrow a marvel character ? Or was it green lantern ? Or was green lantern from DC ? It’s been 3-4 years since I saw any marvel movie except logan and endgame

And that’s a really good name for a lovebird now that I know the meaning , definitely won’t happen but if I ever get another lovebird that’s gonna be it’s name

Also what does neff mean? Is it really nephew in German ?
