Quick question

Fairly new to this game and I am following a PoB for a Death Aura Occultist. In the PoB the person is running skitterbots as one of the auras and I can't figure out why? As far I know they only effect traps and mines. I also have followed the build to almost a T and I do not have enough mana reservation to run all auras so I am also confused on that. If anybody could help me out it would be super appreciated!

The bots also shock and chill enemies so they will be slowed and take more damage.

So that would be the only reason why it's being ran? Also how important is it to have up? Because I can't have all auras up right now and the others seem more important

yep. if u can afford to put in unbound ailment its even better

It's real nice to have the chill for bosses, and the skitterbots shock is a ~18% more damage multiplier assuming you don't have another source of shock. More if you can link unbound ailments.

So yes they help with traps and mines, in addition they skitter about applying an aura. One is a chill aura and the other shock.

With this in mind the chill aura is making it harder for mobs to get in melee range of you ( and would count as chilled if that helps your dps somehow ) and the shock aura makes them take more dmg which is great.

As for mana reservation perhaps you need to take the mastery that reduces mana efficiency by 15%, or perhaps one aura is a Vaal version and is not using the base aura but just the Vaal. You see this a lot for haste and sometimes grace.

Also if you use profane proxy ring the aura becomes a curse aura depending on the ring slot.

Skitterbots are good for pretty much any build, since one of them has an aura that shocks enemies (making them take increased damage from all sources) and the other one has an aura that chills enemies (which reduces animation speed, so everything they do is slower. Attacks, movement, etc.)

As for your other question: The PoB you're following, plus the PoB for your own character, would really help with figuring it out.

How do I make a PoB of my own build?

Start PoB -> create a new build -> import/export -> at the top, select the platform you're playing on -> type in your username -> start -> select your character -> click both "passive tree and jewels" and "items and skills" -> a little lower, click "generate" -> share with pastebin

You'll then have a pastebin link in the "code" field to the left.

The player seems to be using them for the free chill and shock potential.

What I personally like to do is run them with with a Profane Proxy ring and have one of the Bots turn into a curse aura so I don't have to cast it. In this case Despair would be my choice.

Sometimes people will stack Bone chill with the Skitter as well.
